Everybody Arts is thrilled to invite you to the opening event for Earth, A Cosmic Spectacle. Featuring work made by artist Louise Beer and local community members, the exhibition connects visitors emotionally to Earthβs history and climate crisis.
Louise works closely with scientists to explore how understanding the universeβs 13.8-billion-year history can deepen our awareness of the cosmic significance of the climate crisis. Through digitally manipulating photography, she combines images of Earth and space to juxtapose the long, slow development of life, the fleeting nature of a lifetime, and the accelerating pace of the climate crisis. Accompanied by a soundscape of birdsong and cosmic recordings, Louise places Earthβs natural sounds from the local environment within a universal framework.
Agenda
3pm: Time for a drink and some nibbles while you look around the exhibition and experience the immersive soundscape
4pm: Gather together for a talk by artist Louise Beer, with the chance to ask your own questions and discuss the ideas featured in the exhibition
5pm: Join us as we head outside to experience the night sky, and contribute your own reflections and creative response on postcards that will be included in the exhibition
