Further information

In August last year, filmmaking duo, Matt and Janine Radcliffe applied for funding through Culturedale for a film and photography project. In their own words ‘the bid was ambitious’ and included the creation of two documentary films, a film premiere and a multimedia exhibition. Much to their delight (and trepidation!) the funding application was successful, and the project began in September 2024.

This event is an opportunity to hear about this project’s journey, from deciding to apply for funding at a Tesco checkout to delivering their first ever exhibition – and all the highs, low, fun and challenges in-between!

Topics/ anecdotes to include:

  • Financing a project: The (dark) art of funding applications

  • Imposter syndrome: Feeling doubt and doing it anyway

  • Filmmaking: Working without a script

  • Film editing: Saying goodbye to footage you love

  • Curating an exhibition: When to call in the experts

  • Marketing: The power of partnerships

The event will also include the opportunity to take a look at the Common Ground exhibition and watch the two films created for this project, This Valley and Home Ground.
