David Armes

David Armes has been working with letterpress printing since 2010. He makes artist’s books, prints and paper installations that use texts and language as his primary material. He has been artist-in-residence at the Bodleian Library (University of Oxford), Industriemuseum in Gent, Belgium, Huddersfield Art Gallery and Wells College Book Arts Center, New York. He has taught in open access studios and colleges across the country since 2013 and has a wealth of experience to bring to his workshops.

David is an artist working with print, language and geography. His work is frequently site-specific and considers how sense and experience of place can be represented, with source material including automatic writing, anonymous conversations and oral history. David works primarily with letterpress printing on paper and the final forms can vary in shape and size from large scroll installations to small chapbooks. Through using what was once an industrial print process, he am interested in where the multiple meets the unique, where the ephemeral meets the archival.
