DIY Utopia: The Future of Calderdale

A sharing of ideas, propositions and works-in-progress made by and with Young People in Calderdale.

 

This exhibition shows the process behind an Artworks’ project that supports young people to imagine a better world together through art. Artists Andy Abbott and Michael Powell have been working with Year 6 students at Halifax Academy and a group of 10 – 14 year-olds from Calderdale to depict their current realties and utopian visions for the future. This material will be used as the starting point for a DIY Action Plan created by young people that will help identify the next steps in turning their hopes into reality.

This project has been made possible thanks to #IWill funding through the Community Foundation for Calderdale.

Practical Information

The exhibition is free and open to all during the following times:

  • Saturday 9 September, 1-4pm

  • Thursday 14 September, view by appointment

  • Friday 15 September, 1-4pm

  • Saturday 16 September, 1-4pm

  • Thursday 21 September, view by appointment

  • Friday 22 September, 1-4pm

  • Saturday 23 September, 1-4pm and celebration event 1-3pm
